You can install our Faux Carolina Stone Interlocking panels directly over wood siding. Here’s the recommended method:
1. Check the Surface
Make sure the wood siding is solid, flat, and securely fastened. Tighten or replace any loose boards. The panels install best over a stable surface.
2. Optional: Add a Backer
If the siding has deep grooves or an uneven profile, you can install a layer of 1/2"–3/4" plywood or OSB first to create a smooth, continuous surface. This isn’t always required, but does make installation easier and cleaner.
3. Adhesive + Screws Installation
Use a high-quality construction adhesive (like Loctite PL Premium or equivalent) along the back of each panel.
Secure the panels with exterior-grade screws along the flange/lip areas so the xxxx heads are hidden once the next panel interlocks.
4. Interlock & Level
Start at the bottom, check level, and interlock each panel left to right.
Cut panels as needed using standard woodworking tools.
5. Finishing
Use color-matched caulk for xxxx points, seams, and inside corners.
Outside corners can be created with pre-made corner pieces or by miter-cutting panels.
